First off, I suggest that you start by looking through the Rules, Plot, and Useful Information. It is there to inform you of general things about the site, and would be a good place to get a feel for what the site is about. Take note, however, that the site isn't just limited to that. Now, if you've finished that, you can go on to the next step.
If you already have a character in mind, go on to number 3; if you haven't, feel free to check here and see if any of the advertisements that our members have put up would capture your and your muse's attention.
1. Should you want to take on a character that a current member is looking for, simply register with an alias/nickname and then respond accordingly to the topic so that you and the member can talk about details and whatnot.
Now that you have a character in mind, register with your character's First and Last name.
1. Correct: Jane Doe
2. Wrong: Potter'sGirl_12
With that cleared, you should now claim your play by/celebrity. This can be done by going here and making sure that - unless your character has a twin - you don't have the same celebrity as anyone.
Now, if your character is an adult or barely gets by, you should consider getting them a job. Adult characters look here for a job; if you want a property though, then look here. For students, here is the right link for you.
And now comes the fun/most difficult part - filling out your profile. Copy the code from here into a new topic, where you put your character's name as the title. Make sure you don't leave anything blank. When you're done, press the "post" button.

YOU ARE NOT YET FREE TO POST THREADS.

I repeat, even if you've already posted your profile, this does not mean you can now go on a posting spree and make/reply to threads in character. You must wait until your profile has been accepted and your color has changed.
In the meantime, as you wait to be accepted, you are free to go around and add more details to your character's life/experience. You can go here for different records, while this would be the place to gain graphics (signatures/avatar) for your character.
When you've been accepted - it shouldn't take any longer than three days to a week - you are now free to post threads!
